Marian Mahler Edinburgh Weavers

A textile produced in the early 1950s for Edinburgh Weavers by Marian Mahler… it’s actually a notebook from the V&A. Don’t think there could be a better evocation of a particular type of countryside.

  1. Love this… it reminds me of the wallpaper my grandma used to have in her kitchen when I was a child – except it depicted sailing boats, and lighthouses – and seagulls! But very much in a 1950s style. I used to gaze at the repeating pattern – which always seemed to invite a sense of a story waiting to be told…
